The Indian Cricket Team braved a gritty fightback from the New Zealand side to win the 1st Semi-Finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. Daryl Mitchell scored his best score in ODI Cricket as he hit 134 runs to keep the Indian cricket team on the tenterhooks.

This is the fourth ODI World Cup final for India after their appearances in 1983, 2003, 2011, and now in 2023. Rohit Sharma was elated after winning the toss and was prompt in his decision to bat first.

The Indian team will now go to Ahmedabad to play the final this Sunday the 19th of November. The men in blue will await the winners of the 2nd Semi-Finals of the tournament on Thursday between Australia and South Africa in Kolkata.

Mohammed Shami's show with the ball helps India reach ODI World Cup finals –

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were put under early pressure thanks to Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra. Rohit Sharma threw the ball to Mohammed Shami who got the wicket of Conway caught by Rahul for 13. The same combination struck again when they dismissed Rachin Ravindra for 13.

Kane Williamson was joined by Daryl Mitchell as the pair added 181 runs for the third wicket. Just when the pair were taking the game away from India, Mohammed Shami struck twice in a row. The 33-year-old first got the wicket of Williamson for 69 and then got Tom Latham out for a duck.

Daryl Mitchell though kept going as he went after Ravindra Jadeja and was waging a lone battle. Jasprit Bumrah then got the wicket of Glenn Phillips and Shami got his third fifer of the ODI World Cup by taking the wicket of Mitchell. The right-arm pace then got the wickets of Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson to end with 7/57 to record the best ODI figures by an Indian bowler.

India earlier in the day had scored 397 from their 50 overs. Virat Kohli scored 117 runs while Shreyas Iyer scored 105 runs. Shubman Gill was not out on 80 after retiring hurt for a good part of the game. KL Rahul swung his bat to score an unbeaten 39 runs off 20 balls as India posted a huge total on the board.
