'Is team ko koi hara sakta hai?' - Fans react as India beat South Africa by 243 runs at Eden Gardens in ODI World Cup 2023

On the back of Virat Kohli's hundred, India defeated South Africa in Eden Gardens in Kolkata and registered their eighth win on a row in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

India defeated South Africa by 243 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023. On a dry wicket in Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India overcame South Africa in a one-sided contest. Batting first, India scored 326 runs on a surface which was doing a lot. The Pacers got some extra bounce. The odd ones seamed a bit. The spinners enjoyed bowling in the venue, where the surface seemed dry. 

With the bat, India showed composure on a wicket which was not easy to bat on. Rohit Sharma took India off to a flier. On a tricky wicket, Rohit's start was demoralizing for South Africa. The Indian opener scored 40(24). What followed it was Virat Kohli's day. The star batter batted well on a tricky wicket and ensured a good score for the Indian team. 

Shreyas Iyer batted well on a turning wicket. The Indian number 4 attacked the spinners well. Virat equalled Sachin Tendulkar for the record of most hundreds in ODIs. Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja finished well for India. The two lower middle-order batters helped Virat to complete his mission by taking on the bowlers. As Virat got to the milestone, South Africa was totally demoralized. 

Indian bowlers put on a stellar show

Defending 327, the Indian bowlers were right on the money. Bumrah started off well as he bowled a lot of dot balls. It increased the pressure on the batters of South Africa. From the other end, the Pacers got the wickets. Mohammad Siraj and Mohammed Shami claimed wickets for fun. What followed it was the complete domination of the Indian bowling unit. 

Ravindra Jadeja was the star of the show, who claimed a five-wicket haul. The Indian spinner got the ball to spin and grip on the surface. It was tailor-made conditions for him to bowl. The left-arm off-spinner made the most of the conditions and got to his best figures in the ODI World Cup. Kuldeep Yadav and Shami claimed a couple of wickets each. In the end, India won by a huge margin.
