Team India is set to take on Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final on Sunday. The match is set to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The two teams will meet each other in the ODI World Cup final for the second time since the 2003 edition.

It was a close game as the second semi-finals at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata turned out to be a classic. The Australians won the game by 3 wickets despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Pat Cummins hit the winning runs as he was hugged by Mitchell Starc.

South Africa on the other hand were left heartbroken after yet another loss in the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup. The loss also marks the end of the ODI career of Quinton De Kock who was playing his final tournament.

Australia sets up final date with India –

The Australian bowlers came into the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-finals charged up. Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bat first and instantly regretted the decision. Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc destroyed the top order to leave the Proteas at 24/4.

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller began the repair work as they added 95 runs for the 5th wicket. Against the run of play Klaasen was out for 47, David Miller kept going to score 101 runs from 116 balls. David Miller became the first South African to score a century in the knockout phase of the ODI World Cups.

Chasing 213 runs, the South African bowlers were shellshocked as the Australian batter scored at 10 runs per over. Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada bought South Africa back into the contest.

Travis Head continued to make merry as he scored 62 before he was sent back to the hut by Keshav Maharaj. Tabraiz Shamsi then got into the act dismissing Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell.

At 199/7 the pressure was on Australia, but one dropped catch by Quinton De Kock proved to be the final nail in the coffin. The Australians won the game by 3 wickets and will now play India in the final on Sunday.
