In the 44th match of the ODI World Cup 2023, defending champions England beat Pakistan by 93 runs. With this victory, England ended their World Cup campaign with three wins and nine games. They have also qualified for the upcoming Champions Trophy in 2025. Meanwhile, with this loss, Pakistan also ended their World Cup campaign with just four wins out of nine games.
Earlier, after winning the toss, England skipper Jos Buttler opted to bat first. His decision went well with the team, as opener David Malan and Jonny Bairstow added 82 runs for the first wicket. Malan, in his innings, scored 31 runs off 39 balls with the help of five boundaries. Meanwhile, Bairstow, in his inning, scored 59 runs off 61 balls with the help of seven fours and a six.
After their departure, Joe Root, along with Ben Stokes, added 132 runs for the third wicket. Root, in his innings, scored 60 runs off 72 balls with the help of four boundaries. Meanwhile, Stokes, in his innings, scored 84 runs off 76 balls with the help of eleven fours and two sixes. In the end, Harry Brook's 30 off 17 and David Willey's 15 off 5 helped England post a massive total of 337/9 in 50 overs. Pakistan pacer Harris Rauf got 3 wickets.

While chasing a massive total, Pakistan got the worst possible start. The team lost both openers for a mere 10 runs. Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for a two-ball duck by David Willey, while Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for 1 off 9 by Willey. After their departure, skipper Babar Azam, along with Mohammad Rizwan, added 53 runs for the third wicket. Babar, in his innings, scored 38 runs off 45 balls with the help of six fours.
On the other hand, Rizwan, in his inning, scored 36 runs off 51 balls with the help of two boundaries. In the end, a half-century from Agha Salman helped Pakistan cross the 200-run mark.
