Will Australia succumb to India's dominance?

Aakash Chopra, former Indian opener and cricket analyst shared his intriguing insights on the riveting final between India vs Australia in a video on his YouTube channel. This clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the ODI World Cup 2023 promises an exciting showdown between the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue and the five-time World Cup champions, Australia.

Chopra sheds light on Australia's altered dynamics, emphasizing that they are not the powerhouse they once were. He feels that despite an impressive eight-match winning streak, the team seems to lack the collective strength that was witnessed in previous tournaments.

Akash Chopra assessed that Australia's chances of winning the final against India rely heavily on individual brilliance. He is also of the view that the team's success hinges on standout performances from the key players—Mitchell Marsh, David Warner, and Glenn Maxwell.

He said, “Australia are not the same team as they used to be. They have won eight consecutive matches but they are not looking that strong. My understanding is that they can only win based on individual brilliance. The team is not going to win together."

Australia’s batting hasn’t clicked as a Unit

In Australia's success, a pivotal role has been played by Warner, Marsh, and Maxwell's brilliance. With impressive run tallies and striking rates, these three players have been instrumental in the team's journey. However, Chopra expresses his concern over the indifferent form of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. Their struggle for consistency raises questions about Australia's batting strength in the finals.

In his video he said, “There are only three players - Mitchell Marsh, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell. If one of the three players goes absolutely mad and berserk, this team can trouble you, especially if batting first."

The veteran commentator provides insights into the pitch conditions, suggesting that the slightly slow pitch will favor spinners. This sets the stage for an intriguing battle between the bat and ball. However, Chopra downplays the threat posed by Travis Head in the second innings and anticipates Jasprit Bumrah making a significant impact, particularly against the prolific David Warner.

Australia's bowling lineup doesn't escape Chopra's scrutiny. While praising Maxwell, he raises concerns about the form of Starc and Cummins, identifying Hazlewood and Zampa as the primary threats for India. But the veteran analyst seems really confident of India winning the finals as they have looked a more complete team than Australia.
