'Kaam tamaam pehla ulatfer' - Fans react as Afghanistan stun England by 69 runs in ODI World Cup 2023

Afghanistan won their first match in the ODI World Cup in more than 8 years. The Asian side won their first ever match against England in cricket.

Afghanistan have the moment of their cricketing history! The Asian team defeated the world champions England in the ODI World Cup 2023 match in Delhi. A collective team effort helped Afghanistan to stun England in the big match. It is just the second win of Afghanistan in the history of the ODI World Cup. It is the first win for Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup in 8 years. 

After being asked to bat first, Afghanistan managed to score 284 runs in their 50 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the star of the show, he was fiery at the top. The Afghanistan opener scored 80 runs in 57 balls, which included 8 fours and 4 sixes. From 114/0 at one stage, Afghanistan collapsed to 190/6. The English bowlers led the comeback of the side.

Just when it seemed like the match was going out of Afghanistan's hand, the lower middle order batter Ikram Alikhil batted well with the tailenders and helped Afghanistan get to 284 runs. It seemed as if the target was not enough, given how the wicket reacted in the match between India and Afghanistan. But the Afghanistan bowlers were different against England. 

The spin trio of Afghanistan trap English batters

Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Zadran were brilliant with the new ball. Farooqi dismissed Bairstow in the second over of the match. Mujeeb dismissed Joe Root. In the middle overs, Afghanistan's premier spin trio of Mujeeb, Mohammad Nabi, and Rashid Khan took over the match on their shoulders. The trio was simply outstanding and trapped the batters of England for fun. 

Mujeeb claimed 3 wickets in his spell. Nabi bowled 6 overs, conceded 16 runs, and claimed 2 wickets. Rashid was the pick of the bowlers, who picked 3 wickets and rattled the English batting lineup. Naveen claimed a wicket as well and helped the cause of Afghanistan. In the end, Afghanistan defeated England comprehensively by 69 runs. There was no end to the celebrations of Afghanistan players, as they won their first-ever cricket match against England.
