Australia and New Zealand are facing each other today at Dharamshala in a highly anticipated ODI World Cup encounter. The trans-Tasman rivalry at the picturesque Dharamshala was a match that fans had been waiting for since the fixtures were announced and given the juncture at which the tournament is at this match has even more significance.
So far the match between the two top teams has lived up to its hype as the new opening pair of Travis Head and David Warner has given Australia a dream start. Both the openers put up a dazzling 175 runs opening stand before Warner departed to the off-spinning all-rounder Glenn Phillips.
With Travis Head coming back into the Australian side after recovering from a left-hand fracture, the opening pair of Marsh and Warner had to make way for Head in the opening slot and he did not disappoint anyone as Australia got off to a blistering start with 50 runs in under 5 overs.
New Zealand's decision to bowl Backfired
Earlier in the morning, New Zealand won the toss and elected to field on a cool Dharamshala morning with the hope of getting some swing and wickets early in the morning but soon they realized that there wasn’t any swing on offer and they had made a wrong call as Warner and Head carried out an onslaught on the Kiwi fast bowlers.
No matter whether it was Boult, Henry, or Ferguson, the Aussie opener took everybody to the cleaners and gave Australia a flying start. In all the matches played at Dharamshala so far, the bowlers have had something for them whether it was a movement for fast bowlers or a bit of grip from the wicket for the spinners but today it turned out to be a belter of a track.
Australia brought in Head in place of Cameron Green, on the other hand, New Zealand had Jimmy Neesham coming in for Mark Chapman. The Cricket fans were treated with some delightful hitting by the Aussie openers and fans were also quick to express their views on the “X” formerly known as Twitter. Here are some of the hilarious responses by fans on Aussie batting masterclass:

Remarkable that Travis Head hasn’t played a match for nearly Six Weeks because of injury, and walks into the World Cup and gets a century off 59 deliveries.
