Australia beat India in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. The Kangaroos defeated India by 6 wickets and claimed a record 6th title in the history of the tournament. India was outplayed by Australia in all the departments of the game. A failure in the middle order led to the eventual loss of the team in the tournament. Travis Head turned out to be the hero for Australia.

Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first. On a dry surface, the Australian bowlers bowled very well. Despite India going well at one stage, with a score of 76/1, Australia came back well and restricted the home side to a total of 240 runs. For India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli batted well. The two batters scored 47(31) and 54(62) respectively. But there was not enough contribution from the other end. 

KL Rahul played a slow knock, as he scored 56 runs in 106 balls and killed the momentum of the Indian innings. Australian bowlers were brilliant with the ball. On a dry surface, the spinners bowled well. Pat Cummins in the middle overs was exceptional. The Australian captain bowled cutters well and took the pace off from the batters. 

Travis Head's knock leads to India's sorrow

Chasing the target of 241 runs, Australia was reduced to 47/3 at one stage. India seemed favourites at that point, given how well their attack was. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were brilliant with the new ball, as they dismissed the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Steve Smith. For the fourth wicket, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne farmed a mammoth 192 runs that took the game away from India. 

Travis played attacking shots and sealed the game for India. The Southpaw hit some terrific shots and took the attack on the Indian bowlers. As conditions got better to bat, the Indian bowlers looked clueless. The duo of Head and Labuschagne anchored Australia to a successful chase. Head scored 137(120) and helped Australia to win their 6th title.
