In the opening match of the second edition of the Road Safety World Series, India Legends beat South Africa Legends by 61 runs. The former completely dominated the game and were able to perform with the bat as well as the ball. On the other hand, South Africa Legends never looked to have control of the game.

Batting first, India Legends had a decent start, with Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha playing positive cricket. The partnership, however, did not last long, as Tendulkar (16) was dismissed in the sixth over for a team score of 46. Ojha (21) also perished quickly after, but Suresh Raina and Stuart Binny formed a crucial alliance.

Both played attacking cricket and added 64 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership. Raina (33) was finally dismissed by Eddie Leie in the 13th over, but Binny did not stop there as he completed his half-century. After losing yet another wicket, Yusuf Pathan joined Binny in the middle.

The two wreaked havoc on the Jonty Rhodes-led team. Binny continued to hit the ball hard, and Pathan soon joined in. The two added a partnership of 88 runs, with Binny doing the bulk of the work. He scored 82 runs in just 42 balls, with five fours and six sixes in the innings. On the other hand, Pathan remained unbeaten on a score of 35 in 15 balls, with one four and four sixes. The two guided the team to a total of 217/4 in the first innings.

South Africa had a solid start in the chase, but it was all downhill for them after that. Andrew Puttick (23) and Morne van Wyk (26) added 43 runs in the powerplay but were quickly dismissed by spinners. Rahul Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, and Yuvraj Singh maintained their middle-over dominance and picked up a few more wickets.

The South African team finished with a score of 156/9. In the match, Sharma took three wickets, while Ojha and Munaf Patel each took two. Yuvraj and Irfan Pathan also got one wicket each. South Africa's leading run-scorer was Jonty Rhodes with 38 runs in 27 balls.
