The search for the selection committee has ended for the Indian National Team. 600 individuals had applied for the chief position in the selection committee. The Board for Cricket Control in India have finalized all the members of the India's senior selection committee.

According to the statement released by the Indian Cricket Board, Chetan Sharma will continue to be the chief selector for the national team. The report said:

"The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Ms Sulakshana Naik, Mr Ashok Malhotra, and Mr Jatin Paranjape undertook an extensive process for selecting members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee. The Board received around 600 applications following its advertisement for the five posts issued on its official website on 18th November 2022," the statement read.

"Upon due deliberation and careful consideration, the CAC shortlisted 11 individuals for personal interviews. Based on the interviews, the Committee has recommended the following candidates for the Senior Men’s National Selection Committee," it added.

The Cricket board had posted the advertisement on 18th November 2022 following India's exit in the 20-20 World Cup 20222. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) constituted by the Indian Cricket Board, consisting of Sulakshna Naik, Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Pranjape, went through all the 600 applications to finalize the 11 member committee.

The new selection committee consists of:

1)     Chetan Sharma

2)     Shiv Sundar Das

3)     Subroto Banerjee

4)     Salil Ankola

5)     Sridharan Sharath

The previous selection committee came under scrutiny after India's failure to win the World Cup in the last two times. The 20-20 World Cup 2021 was a disaster for the national team as they did not qualify for the semi-finals, whereas India fumbled in the semi-finals in Australia.

All the new responsibilities lie on Chetan Sharma and his team to select the best team possible for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held in India. Also, India under Rohit Sharma will be under sheer pressure to also claim the World Test Championship trophy.

The fans have come up with numerous reactions on the latest development. Here's a look at some:
