The world of tennis saw legendary player Novak Djokovic take his grand slam tally up higher. The Serbian won US Open 2023 by beating Daniil Medvedev in the final in straight sets. This marked the third grand slam title for Djokovic this year after his wins in the Australian and French Open. Roger Federer has already retired and Rafael Nadal is also nearing the final stages of his career. The curtain is getting drawn on a fantastic era for tennis fans which has seen the top three competitors give it their all to be called the world number 1.
It was all smiles for Novak Djokovic as he won his 24th Grand Slam title. The 36-year-old is the last of the greatest era of tennis still playing. Speaking to the press after the match, Djokovic was asked about his future plans. The Serbian replied, “Occasionally asking myself, why do I need this still at this stage after all I have done you know? How long do I want to keep going? I do have these questions in my head of course”.

Djokovic then went on to speak about the motivations he has left to pursue tennis at the highest level. The Serbian further said, “Knowing that I play at such a high level still and I win the biggest tournaments in this sport, yeah, I don't want to get rid of this sport or I don't want to leave this sport if I'm still at the top."
Novak Djokovic was looking to make 2023 the perfect year as he had already won the first two grand slams. The march was halted when Carlos Alcaraz beat the Serbian in the final of Wimbledon this year. Djokovic though swept aside all opposition to claim the 2023 US Open title to make it his 24th grand slam.
The Serbian tennis legend talked about the role his family and his team played. “My team, my family knew that the last 24 hours, don't touch me, don't speak to me about, you know, the history of what's on the line, I really did my best to keep things quite simple and stick to the routines that brought me to where I am and treat this match really as any other match where I just need to win” Djokovic beat Medvedev in the final in straight sets. The first set was an easy 6-3 win as the second set went to tie-break and the Serbian won it 7-6. The 24th title came when Djokovic won the set with 6-3 margin.
