Switzerland is one of the luckiest countries when it comes to tennis. The country might make any country jealous for having such a great legend donning the name in his jersey. Roger Federer, the 41-year-old, will bid adieu to the sport that he loved the most after pairing up with Rafael Nadal for one last time.
The fire that he would have had when he first represented Switzerland took him to various places. A young guy with a gracious smile attracted humungous crowds and with his skills, made the entire tennis world take a look at him. After winning 20 Grand Slam titles, Roger Federer decided to declare that he is a human after all.
Fans speculated that he might not be a human at all given his stupendous tennis skills. However, in his retirement note, Roger Federer declared that his body was no longer cooperating with him. Speaking of the Swiss legend, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic turned down the clock to recall some of the best matches against him.
The legend from Spain recollected the 2008 Wimbledon Final and also the 2017 Australian Open finals. However, Rafael Nadal rated the latter one higher than the former and revealed a few interesting interactions that took place between the two before that match.
“I think honestly the 2017 final in Australia was a very special one, because of the significance. Few months before we were together, injured, talking about how the things are going to be, if we are going to be able to be back on the tour at this level, and few months later we are playing the final in Australia, five-set match,” the Spaniard recollected.
Novak Djokovic reveals his best match against Roger Federer
Novak Djokovic, the Serbian star, revealed his best match against the Swiss ace tennis star. “I’ll pick my first Grand Slam final, US Open 2007. I lost that match. That was the first Grand Slam final obviously, was a remarkable experience for me at the time. Kind of the first match that allowed me to believe that I belonged to that level,” the Serbian revealed.
It will come to an end with Roger Federer sharing the court with Rafael Nadal. It will turn out to be a cracking match with a bid of tears to shed in the end. However, all for good as the entire stadium will erupt to welcome him before the match. One could only imagine the uproar once he raises his bat post the match to acknowledge the crowd. Roger Federer, the 20-time Grand Slam winner, is all set to put a full stop to what fans hope would only be a comma.
