After crushing Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on October 23 on the back of Virat Kohli’s heroics in Melbourne, the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma made it to Sydney where there will be facing the Netherlands on October 27, Thursday. However, the PTI reported on Wednesday that the Indian cricket board officials were unhappy with the after-practice menu provided to the Indian players. The reports claimed that the players were not served hot food.
A source from the Indian cricket board said that the players had their lunch only on their return to the hotel. “It's not like any boycott... Some players did pick up fruits and falafel but everyone wanted to have lunch and hence they had food going back to the hotel,” PTI quoted the source from the Indian cricket board as saying.
“In a bilateral series, the host association is in charge of catering and they always provide hot Indian meals after a training session. But for Cricket’s governing body, the rule is the same for all countries,” said the source further on condition of anonymity.
India’s road to the semis
After an emphatic win against the arch-rivals, the Men in Blue will now toil it hard for ‘Mission Sydney’ and the road is more or less cleared for Rohit and his men. Kohli, the Indian giant who is in good form, will look to carry on with momentum and mindset.
Although India has done well to clear their road to the semis a bit, they still are in need to clinch victory against Netherlands, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. Rohit, the Indian skipper, who failed to make it big with the bat against Pakistan, will have to step up going ahead in the tournament. KL Rahul, the Indian opener, who is not in the best of form, will have to find a way to get his touch back and contribute to team India. The batter has been out of the radar of late and his strike rate has been a headache for the Men in Blue.
