'No appreciation for Dhoni or Jadeja?' - Fans react to Gautam Gambhir's congratulatory message for CSK as they clinch their 5th IPL title

After Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) final on Monday, May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir congratulated the team on their impressive victory.

Despite being given the opportunity to bat first after winning the toss, Gujarat Titans scored a staggering 214/4 in just 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan scored 96 runs from just 47 balls, making a big contribution to his team's unprecedented total. Wriddhiman Saha continued his knack of scoring in the big games as he also hit a crucial half-century. But shortly after the second inning started, the players had to be called back to the pavilion due to rain. 

CSK had to chase down 171 runs in 15 overs after the downpour stopped and the game was about to start. They succeeded in doing so to win their fifth IPL title in extraordinary circumstances. Ravindra Jadeja scored a six as well as a four from Mohit Sharma to rescue CSK from defeat when they required 10 runs from just two balls to win. 

Winning 5 is unbelievable: Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, who led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to two title wins in 2012 and 2014, hailed CSKs achievement of 5 titles as ’'unbelievable". The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who didn't get past the IPL Eliminator, were coached by Gambhir. He took to Twitter to congratulate the franchise as he tweeted with the caption, “Congratulations CSK! Winning 1 title is difficult, winning 5 is unbelievable! #IPL2023.”

They had a great season in the Indian Premier League 2023 as they found match-winners in each and every game and finished third on the overall points tally. Gambhir and LSG’s season came to a premature end after they faltered in the Eliminator against the Mumbai Indians. They lost the game by 81 runs which showed they have some areas which they can improve upon for next season.
