Team India are having a horrible time on the field because the side has been plagued by injuries to the main players and it has hampered the balance of the side. Kuldeep Sen, Rohit Sharma and Deepak Chahar will not play in the 3rd ODI. In the Test series too, this will follow suit.

When it comes to a slot in the pace department in the Test side, there will likely be a three-way tie between Umran Malik, Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar. Umran did well in the ODIs and the other two have done well for the India A side against Bangladesh.

Skipper Rohit Sharma will also not make a likely return to the Test squad as he has suffered an injury to his webbing and is already in Mumbai to consult a specialist. To add to the injury woes, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami are yet to recover from their respective injuries. This handicaps the Indian Test side to a great extent.

The bowling attack for India is looking thin:

Jadeja has undergone surgery for his knee injury and is yet to get to full fitness. When it comes to Mohammed Shami, he was ruled out of the ODI series with a shoulder injury just before it was scheduled to begin. Even though no official update has been provided, reports are coming in that the two will in all likelihood travel to the National Cricket Academy to work on their fitness.

The bowling attack for the Test side is hanging on a dangerous thread as Jasprit Bumrah has already been ruled out and it will not be easy for India if Shami and Jadeja are also ruled out. The bowling workload will fall upon two or three individuals who have to share the burden so that India wins and remains in contention for the World Test Championship final.

When it comes to Jadeja’s replacement, it could be one of Saurabh Kumar or more likely Axar Patel or Kuldeep Yadav. Axar can do what Jadeja does, while Kuldeep can provide the wrist-spinning option. Saurabh’s chances of getting a game look very slim.
