Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been an icon in World Cricket. He made his debut in 2004 and since then he has been a game-changer in Indian Cricket. When he came onto the scene he brought a lot of unorthodox things and did things his way.

The wicketkeeper batter gave some life lessons at a promotional event. He said that he worked hard on his game and went on to become a polished diamond from a raw uncut diamond. He was always a level-headed individual and his calmness was a differentiating factor which set him apart from his peers.

“When I meet cricketers, I keep telling them - for us, cricket is the most important thing and, everything around cricket will take care of itself if we take care of the most important thing which is cricket,” Dhoni said during a promotional event.

Dhoni won India three World Events

“Because in today’s world, when I started playing cricket for India, it was 2004. Back then there was no Instagram, there was no Twitter, nothing. Now, a lot of people are worried about likes and followers. But that’s not the core subject. As cricketers, we are supposed to try our best to represent the country and do well. If we take care of that, all other things will take care of themselves,” Dhoni added.

It is a wonderful piece of advice given by the former Indian captain as social media has become a part of the cricketer's life so much that it has just become an indispensable thing. Without social media, the players feel a void and they feel very weird and different if they are not active on social media.

Dhoni has had a distinguished career over the years and has been one of the most successful captains in Indian Cricket history. He is the only skipper from India to win all three World events that is the ODI World Cup in 2011, the Champions Trophy in 2013 and a 20-20 World Cup in 2007.
