Shaheen Afridi, the Pakistani fiery left-arm pacer, was ruled out of competitive cricket on the back of an injury that he sustained during the finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 which they lost to England. That being said, on February 3, Friday, the left-armer tied the knot with Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha. 

To add more, Shahid was the interim chief selector for the Test and the ODI series against New Zealand that concluded in mid-January. While the Tests concluded with neither of the teams winning the two matches, the Black Caps crushed the Men in Green in the ODIs 1-2 and stunned the crowd who were left clueless about the same. 

After his daughter’s marriage to the left-armer, Afridi took to Twitter to express his delight and wish the new couple on their journey ahead. Shaheen is aiming for a comeback in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) and it was under his leadership that Lahore Qalandars won the title in the previous edition.

Comparing his daughter to beautiful flowers in the garden, Shahid said that daughters are like flowers and they are the ones who love their parents with all of their hearts. One could understand that Shaheen would be brimming with confidence and would hope to flourish in PSL 8 given players are known to flourish right after their wedding. 

“Daughter is the most beautiful flower of your garden because they blossom with great blessing. A daughter is someone you laugh with, dream with, and love with all your heart. As parent, I gave my daughter in Nikkah to @iShaheenAfridi, congratulations to the two of them,” Shahid’s tweet read. 

With the 50-over World Cup set to take place in India later this year, Shaheen would be keen to return to competitive cricket and prove a point. If at all he fails to make a comeback for the Men in Green, it would come as a huge blow for Babar Azam and his men in the multinational tournament.
