Since the announcement of the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule, the excitement of cricket fans has increased and they are eagerly waiting for the blockbuster clash of the mega event, India vs Pakistan. The 50-over tournament will kick off on October 5 with defending champions England taking on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Meanwhile, the much-awaited IND vs PAK will be played at the same venue on October 15.
The two neighbours have not competed against each other in a bilateral series since 2008 in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks. The two teams have only met in major multi-national tournaments, which adds spice to their battle. This time India are the host and there was uncertainty for months regarding Pakistan's participation in the mega event, however, things settled down and they confirmed their tickets.
Meanwhile, as the Narendra Modi Stadium prepares to host IND-PAK, hotel bookings have already begun and prices have skyrocketed in Ahmedabad now. According to reports, hoteliers are charging Rs 50,000 per night due to high demand. But the craze for the high-octane clash forced fans to think out of the box and book hospital beds to save their money.
Fans are asking for a full-body check-up and an overnight stay: Sannidhya Hospital authority in Bhopal
Hospital authorities have observed an increase in inquiries from fans seeking a stay at their facilities. The hospital package is much cheaper than hotel rooms and also includes food and they can do a medical check-up as well.
"Since it’s a hospital, they are asking for a full-body check-up and an overnight stay so both of their purposes are fulfilled, saving money on lodging and getting their health check done," Dr Paras Shah, Director of Sannidhya Multi Speciality Hospital in Bhopal was quoted as saying by Sportstiger.
"We too are getting inquiries for 24-48 hours stays in our hospital, particularly around October 15, as we also have a full-body check-up package. This is due to the upcoming World Cup India-Pakistan match that is scheduled on October 15. Like at our hospitals, the situation seems the same in other city hospitals too. So, we are thinking about coming out with other health packages," the Hospitals' medical director, Dr Nikhil Lala said.
