Ongoing Australia vs South Africa is essentially a dead rubber as the host team has already won the series by winning 2-0 against Dean Elger-led South Africa side.
Australia captain Pat Cummins however is not one to be satisfied with a 2-0 win. The fast bowler unsympathetically declared the innings at 475/4 at the start of Day 4. The declaration was of a brutal nature as Australia batter Usman Khawaja was batting at 195 when the declaration was made.
The left-hand batter was just 5 runs shy of his first double-century at the international level. This however did not budge Cummins from his decision as he declared the inning with the sole intention of coming up with a win against the South Africans.
Khawaja’s double-century miss however went in vain as the 3rd Test between Australia and South Africa was adjudged a draw due to frequent stoppages due to poor weather.
The Australian players however did not accept the draw till the very last ball and held onto every little opportunity that they could. One such incident is going viral for a funny reason.
On the last day, of the match, Australian Matt Renshaw was also eyeing to take every last opportunity while South Africa captain Dean Elgar was batting. In one instance, the Australian fielder put his hands in between the South African batter's legs to catch a ball stuck on his pad.
The Australian took the ball and threw it to the other fielder but Elger did not let this go by without saying anything. While Renshaw was moving to his fielding position, Elger said, “You might have got a little touch of something else there.” The Australian fielder was then seen cracking up as he moved to his fielding position.
