Batting first, MI posted a total of 182 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. In reply, LSG were bowled out for just 101 runs, powered by a fiery five-wicket haul by Akash Madhwal that destroyed the batting lineup LSG.

MI was heading to a flying start as the skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan added 30 runs in 3.2 overs. After that, Rohit lost his wicket after scoring 11 runs off 10 balls with one four and one six. In the very next over, Ishan Kishan also got out after scoring 15 off 12 balls with three boundaries. Marcus Stoinis was the only batter who tried to take the innings further as he got out after scoring 40 runs off 27 balls hitting five fours and a maximum. Madhwal ended up with his career-best figures as he picked 5 wickets by conceding only 5 runs in 3.3 overs. On the other hand, Chirs Jordan and Piyush Chawla took one each.

MI will now face the defending champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 26th. The winner will face Chennai Super Kings for the title clash in Ahmedabad on May 28th.
