The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have made it into Qualifier 2 after defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a huge margin of 81 runs in the Eliminator of IPL 2023 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Batting first, MI posted a total of 182 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. In reply, LSG were bowled out for just 101 runs, powered by a fiery five-wicket haul by Akash Madhwal that destroyed the batting lineup LSG.
MI was heading to a flying start as the skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan added 30 runs in 3.2 overs. After that, Rohit lost his wicket after scoring 11 runs off 10 balls with one four and one six. In the very next over, Ishan Kishan also got out after scoring 15 off 12 balls with three boundaries. After that, Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav put up a partnership of 66 runs for the third wicket. Suryakumar got out in the 11th over after scoring 33 runs off 20 balls with two fours and two sixes.
A delivery later, Green also lost his wicket after scoring 41 runs off 23 balls six fours, and a maximum. After that, Tim David and Tilak Varma added 43 runs for the fifth wicket. After that, Nehal Wadhera added the finishing touches and got out in the last ball of the innings after scoring 23 runs off 12 balls hitting two fours and two sixes as MI go past 180 runs. For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq scalped 4 wickets by conceding 38 runs in his four overs, while Yash Thakur took 3 wickets and Mohsin Khan put 1 in his bag.
LSG kept losing wickets at regular intervals
Chasing the winning total, LSG didn’t have a great as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. LSG had a lot of blunders during the field as there were three unexpected runouts during the second innings. Marcus Stoinis was the only batter who tried to take the innings further as he got out after scoring 40 runs off 27 balls hitting five fours and a maximum. Madhwal ended up with his career-best figures as he picked 5 wickets by conceding only 5 runs in 3.3 overs. On the other hand, Chirs Jordan and Piyush Chawla took one each.
MI will now face the defending champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 26th. The winner will face Chennai Super Kings for the title clash in Ahmedabad on May 28th.

LSG played like a club level team today , under pressure they crumbled. MI just defeated a club level team so they have to face big team like GT on their home ground and then may be CSK in finals, so don’t be too happy MI fans
