The chief selector of India’s senior men’s team Chetan Sharma has instigated a controversy after a suspected sting operation. The former India pacer made some very controversial statements about Indian cricket in a video that has been making rounds on social media. The trouble now mounts for Sharma as the Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah is set to decide his future after the sting went viral.

Sharma who was recently reappointed by Indian Cricket Board after being sacked by the board after India’s defeat in the 20-20 world cup made some very controversial statements in the sting. In the video released by Zee News, Sharma can be heard making some controversial statements about Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, and Jasprit Bumrah. Sharma also allegedly revealed his internal discussions with head coach Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli during the sting.

Speaking about his future to a news agency a senior official of the board said, “It will be Jay’s call as to what will be Chetan’s future. The question is whether T20 skipper Hardik Pandya or ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma would like to sit with Chetan in a selection meeting knowing that he has let out internal discussions.”

‘Indian players take an injection to prove fitness’, Sharma made shocking claim during the sting 

Sharma in the alleged sting made a very shocking claim as he said that Indian players take injections to gain match fitness and it can’t be detected in a dope test. He gave the example of star Pacer Jasprit Bumrah and said, “Jaspirt Bumrah was unable to bend as he had a major injury other than that there are one or two players who take injections in private and say that they are fit to play.”

Sharma further spoke about the rift between former India Captain Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly. He said, “Virat Kohli felt he lost the captaincy because of the Board President. There were 9 people in the selection committee video conference, Ganguly may have told him ‘Think about it once’. I think Kohli didn’t hear it, there were 9 others there including myself and all other selectors, and officials – Kohli might not have heard him.”

However, social media users react to his comments and Jay Shah’s entry to control the damage. A user wrote, “mere ko esa dhak dhak horela hai.”
