The finals of the Road Safety World Series 2022 (RSWS) turned out to be a sumptuous one. India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends faced off in the summit clash and the Sachin Tendulkar-led team started the game as favourites to win the match.
It was India Legends skipper Sachin Tendulkar who won the toss and elected to bat first. The powerplay turned out to be worthwhile and India Legends openers made the best use of it. Naman Ojha kept the scoreboard ticking apropos of losing Tendulkar early in the innings.
India Legends gathered 51 runs at the end of field restrictions. Parenthetically, Ojha kept finding gaps in the middle overs and ensured that the run rate remained above par. The former India batter reached his fifty in 40 balls and was on his way to converting it into a big one. Much to the delight of the Indian fans, Ojha reached his hundred off 68 balls and helped his side secure a great total of 195 for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
India Legends are the champions of RSWS 2022
Sri Lanka Legends, on contrary, did not flourish in the powerplay as they put on only 33 runs on the board at the end of six overs. With reference to the middle overs, it was all about Indian bowlers Stuart Binny and Rahul Sharma who kept coming up with tighter lengths.
Ishan Jayaratne, the only player who kept Sri Lanka Legends in the race, perished in the penultimate 19th over. With no wickets left in the bank after the fall of Dhammika Prasad, Sri Lanka Legends surrendered after putting on 162 on the board in 18.5 overs.
India Legends, who have been fantastic right throughout the tournament, won the title for the second consecutive time. The Indian veterans procured a fairy tale end to what has been a great tournament for fans. The Twitter world went crazy over the win and fans came up with numerous tweets in praise of India Legends.
