England ended up trumping Pakistan in a historic Test match in Rawalpindi which turned out to be England’s only third win on Pakistani soil. This was England’s first Test Tour to Pakistan after 17 years and it started on the right note for the Three Lions. England won by 74 runs at the end of Day 5.
The cricketing fraternity was all praise for England’s "Bazball" approach and also for producing a result on a lifeless pitch with a bold declaration in the second innings. But one reaction which has hogged the headlines is The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) President Stephen Fry. He was over the moon after the game ended.
The MCC put out Fry’s reaction in the last over, “If it’s not out, there’s five minutes gone isn’t it out of the game?,” said Fry. “Oh Jack (Leach), he’s got his glasses on. Are they steaming up? Oh, it’s like extracting teeth, come on! Come on, technology. "Here We go! Yes.”. It looked like Pakistan would eke out a draw in the end and that bad light will come in as the last pair of Naseem Shah and Mohammad Ali kept defending patiently until Jack Leach scalped Naseem.

Stunning captaincy Go Ben! - Stephen Fry
Fry also was very upbeat about Ben Stokes's captaincy throughout the Test Match and he showered immense praise on England's all-rounder for taking timely decisions through the course of the game. “Oh Glory! What a piece of captaincy the declaration was. Oh, Ben Stokes! Stunning Captaincy! Wow, go Ben. That is exquisite. I don’t think any other captain in cricket would have won that Test match.” He said.
England have pushed the reset button when it comes to playing Test match cricket and have reaped handsome rewards under the captaincy of Stokes and the supervision of Brendon McCullum. They have won their last eight tests on the trot under the new captain-coach duo.
This is what Ben Stokes had to say after the match, “It (test cricket) needs to stay around and we’ll do everything we possibly can as a team to keep it alive,” “If you’re brave enough and willing enough to go out and play in that way, even if you lose a game, it’s going to be entertaining.”.
