Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have signed Kedar Jadhav as an injury replacement for David Willey for the remainder of IPL 2023. The Indian all-rounder was acquired for INR 1 crore. Willey, who flew back home to England to nurse an injury, hurt his toe while batting towards the end of RCB's previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders, when he was hit by an Andre Russell yorker. Neither the IPL nor RCB detailed the extent of Willey's injury.

Jadhav, who is 38 years old, was an in-demand IPL cricketer until a few years ago but didn't get a chance to play in the 2022 season and went unsold at the latest auction. He has played for many teams in the IPL since his debut in 2010, including RCB, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Jadhav turned out for RCB in 17 matches in 2016 and 2017 after being traded from Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils).

Jadhav's inclusion in the RCB squad adds experience and depth to their middle order. He is known for his handy off-spin and ability to score quick runs in the middle overs. Jadhav's IPL career has been highlighted by some memorable innings, including a match-winning knock of 69 not out off 37 balls for Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians in the 2018 season.

Overall, Jadhav's signing is a shrewd move by RCB, who are currently placed fourth in the IPL 2023 standings. His experience and skillset could prove crucial in their quest to secure a playoff spot and ultimately win their maiden IPL title.

Here's how Twitter reacted to Kedar Jadhav's inclusion in RCB:Β

A great comeback in the domestic circuit

Kedar Jadhav took a year-long break before coming into Ranji Trophy and dominating the bowlers.Β "I took a break for a year but I realised I was missing my passion. When I came back to play first-class cricket, I found it very easy," Jadhav said of a successful 2022-23 domestic season, where he scored 555 runs in six innings at an average of 92.50 for Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy.

"All the experience helped. The hunger was there which was in the early 20s. The hunger to score big runs was there and I felt I can come back and play at all levels and I've prepared for it, I've always performed well," said the veteran after coming up with a successful campaign.
