After losing the first two encounters of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS), who won their first two fixtures of the league at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, on Sunday. SRH ended up winning the match by eight wickets but Shikhar Dhawan was awarded Player of the Match for his brilliant performance.

Hyderabad skipper, Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, Punjab Kings were able to score only 143 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for the side was their skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who played a marvelous knock of 99 runs from 66 balls, which included 12 fours and five sixes.

The second highest scorer for the side was the, recently concluded 20-20 World Cup's Player of the Tournament, Sam Curran, who scored 22 runs from 15 balls, which included three fours and a six.

For the home side, the pick of the bowlers was the debutant, Mayank Markande, who snapped four wickets in his spell of four overs, in which he conceded just 15 runs in his spell. Two wickets each were taken by South Africa's seamer Marco Jansen and India's pace gun from Jammu and Kashmir, Umran Malik, in their respective spells.

Jansen conceded 16 runs in his spell of three overs with one maiden over, while, on the other hand, Malik conceded 32 runs in his spell of four overs. India veteran seamer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar also grabbed one wicket in his spell of four overs, conceding 33 runs.

While chasing a target of 144 runs, the Hyderabad franchise chased down the target on the first ball of the 18th over. The highest scorer for them was Rahul Tripathi, who scored an unbeaten knock 74 runs from 48 balls which included 10 fours and three sixes.

Markram also scored crucial unbeaten knock of 37 runs from 21 balls with six fours. They both together put up a partnership of unbeaten 100 runs and helped the team secure an 8-wicket win.
