Manchester United star Antony Matheus dos Santos has been accused of domestic violence and assault by his former partner Gabriela Cavallin. According to reports, a police complaint was filed against the Brazilian on Monday, June 5, for domestic violence, bodily injury and threat.

Antony's ex-girlfriend lodged a police complaint in So Paulo, claiming that the Man United winger assaulted her on 20th May, according to information released by Globo Esporte. Cavallin also said that the first of the four incidents occurred in July 2022.

She also submitted photographs of abrasions and threatening messages from Antony to validate her statement. However, it is unclear where the incident took place as the footballer was in England at the time. Antony was playing for the Red Devils on the reported date of the event. He was part of the squad that won 1–0 against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on 20 May.

Neither Antony nor the club has yet issued a statement on the matter

The So Paulo police have launched an investigation into the matter, but neither the concerned player nor the club have yet issued a statement based on the allegations. While the probe is going on, Cavallin has reportedly asked the Brazilian police for "an urgent protective measure." According to Globo Esporte, the two were dating last year.

Anthony has had a decent campaign with Man United following his highly-priced move from Dutch professional football club Ajax last summer. The 23-year-old scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 25 Premier League appearances. He managed to find the back of the net twice in the Europa League and scored one goal each in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

However, this is not the first time Manchester United players have been in the news for the wrong reasons. Earlier, the English club legend Ryan Giggs and then youngster Mason Greenwood made headlines for a similar issue in March last year. Greenwood has not played for the club since his arrest in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, controlling behavior and assault. However, he is still under contract with the club.
