Manchester City, the English Premier League (EPL) giants, have won their first-ever UEFA Super Cup after beating Sevilla in a penalty shoot-out 5-4. After the 90th minute, the game ended on a 1-1 mark as Cole Palmer and Youssef En-Nesyri scored for City and the Spanish club, respectively. Undoubtedly, it was a thrilling football game as the Spanish club took the lead in the first game, but later on, Pep Guardiola’s plan worked for the English Premier League (EPL) giants, who came back in the second half with a goal.

However, it was City’s first UEFA Super Cup title, and for Guardiola, it was the fourth time in his career. Now, the Manchester-based side has the joint-most alongside Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid. Interestingly, Guardiola became the first manager to win the trophy with three different clubs, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and now Manchester City. The Spanish club Sevilla's aggressive, high-pressure style of play somehow troubled the nine-time EPL champions, but their striker En-Nesyri missed some crucial opportunities but scored in one counter-attack formation in the first half.

Manchester City has now lifted 15 titles under Pep Guardiola-

It is pertinent to mention that in the penalty shoot-out in the first nine spots, kicks from all sides were converted, but Nemanja Gudelj missed the one as his attempted shot hit the crossbar, which allowed Man City to win. However, Under Guardiola, Manchester City has now won a total of 15 trophies. Now, City have the EPL title and the UEFA Champions League trophy, as City has won consecutive Premier League titles in 2021 & 22 seasons and has beaten Inter Milan in the CL final to clinch the title for the first time in their history.

Speaking of Pep Guardiola, who has been managing the City side since the 2016/17 season, he is only behind legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was in the United side for 26 seasons before retiring in the 2013 edition. Ferguson won 49 titles during his illustrious career, including 13 EPL titles, but former Barcelona manager Pep will surely be looking to break this record as the former Man United manager.
