Dhoni's illustrious cricket career: A legacy of captains, champions, and records

Dhoni's nearly 15-year cricket international career has been marked by significant accomplishments as both a captain and a player. Under his leadership, India won the inaugural T20 World Cup title in 2007, the 2011 ODI World Cup and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He has also guided his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise to five championships, the most recent in 2023.

The right-handed batter has represented India in 350 ODIs, 98 T20Is and 95 Tests, scoring 10,773, 1617 and 4,876 runs respectively. In 2020, he made the shock announcement of his retirement from international cricket, deciding to focus on the franchise tournament.

The Ranchi-born cricketer has played 250 IPL matches for CSK and has scored over 5000 runs for the team. There are rumours that the 16th edition of IPL was his last season, but Dhoni is yet to give any confirmation about it and is likely to play in the upcoming season as well.
