Lyca Kovai Kings captain Shahrukh Khan continues to shine with the ball in TNPL 2023

Shahrukh Khan has been one of the top finishers in domestic tournaments in the last few years. But in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League, Shahrukh Khan has shined in a different role – As a bowler. The right arm off break bowler has had an excellent season for Lyca Kovai Kings as a bowler. While Shahrukh has been at his best as a finisher, it’s the bowling, the secondary skillset of the captain of LKK that has impressed everyone in TNPL 2023. Even in TNPL 2022, Khan had bowled well.

The Punjab Kings player has played 6 matches in the tournament so far. In 16 overs, Khan has claimed 11 wickets at an outstanding bowling average of 9.18, at an economy of 6.31, at a bowling strike rate of 8.73, including a 3-wicket haul. Khan has the most wickets, the second-best bowling average, and the second-best bowling strike rate for a bowler in the tournament. Khan has visibly stepped up with the ball for his team.

Bowling performances in TNPL 2023

In the first match of the tournament against IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Khan bowled four overs and claimed 3 wickets conceding only 20 runs. In the second match against Nellai Royal Kings, Khan bowled two overs and claimed a wicket conceding only 12 runs. An exceptional knock from Ajith Guruswamy took Royal King's home that match. In the following match against Chennai Super Gillies, Shahrukh bowled an over and claimed the wicket of Santosh Shiv conceding 9 runs.

Against Ba11sy Trichy, Shahrukh bowled 3 overs and claimed 2 wickets by conceding only 15 runs. In the following game against Dindigul Dragons, Khan bowled 2 overs and claimed two wickets by conceding 16 runs. In the recent game against Salem Spartans, Khan bowled his full quota of 4 overs, claimed 2 wickets, and conceded 29 runs. Undoubtedly, Shahrukh Khan has played a key role in Lyca Kovai Kings becoming the first team of the tournament to qualify for the playoffs.
