When Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 20, the Krunal Pandya-led team is rumoured to wear a special jersey that sees an Indian Premier League (IPL) x Indian Super League (ISL) crossover. According to reports, Sanjeev Goenka-owned LSG are likely to don a new green and maroon jersey at the iconic Eden Gardens as a tribute to the Kolkata-based Indian football club Mohun Bagan.

Dr. Goenka is also a major stake holder of The Mariners, so if rumors are to be believed, the cricket fraternity and KKR fans are in for a surprise in their final group-stage match of the IPL 2023. The LSG players usually wears a dark and light blue kit in both home and away games, but this new move might persuade some fans to support the visitors next Saturday.

The giants of Indian football ATK Mohun Bagan won the ISL title last season by defeating Bengaluru FC through a penalty shootout in the final. There were fan protests to remove 'ATK' from the club name, and Goenka declared that the squad will be renamed Mohun Bagan Super Giants for the upcoming ISL season.

Meanwhile, the battle against LSG will be crucial for KKR as they need to win at any cost to stay in the IPL 2023 playoffs race. LSG, on the other hand, have two matches left in the group stage and need to win both matches to secure their spot without relying on other teams.

GT players to don lavender jerseys in match against SRH

The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) had earlier announced that they will wear a special lavender-colored jersey in their final home match of the IPL 2023 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 15. The initiative aims to create awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention of cancer.

“The choice of lavender, a colour symbolising all types of cancer, serves as a powerful reminder of the many lives affected by this devastating disease. By wearing lavender jerseys, Gujarat Titans aim to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention, emphasising the crucial role that lifestyle changes can play in combating cancer,” the Ahmedabad-based franchise said in a release.
