KL Rahul is one of the trusted openers for India in recent times and the Karnataka batter can thrash any team on his day. However, things have not been going well for him of late as he has been struggling with his strike rate. Since his comeback against Zimbabwe, the Indian batter has struggled to score runs and also at a quick pace.

Things turned ugly for the Indian star when he messed up with runs and also ended up consuming numerous balls. Critics and former cricketers expressed their frustrated and also called for his exclusion from the 20-20 World Cup 2022 squad. However, ahead of the first T20I against Australia, KL Rahul has hit back at his haters and critics.

“Look no one is perfect. No one in that dressing room is perfect. Everyone is working towards something. Everyone has a certain role to do. Obviously, the strike rates are taken on an overall base. You will never see when a batter played a certain strike rate. It is something that I am working at. The roles that I have been defined ...... in the last 10 or 12 months I have been very clear on what everyone expects from the player, and everyone is working towards it,” ANI quoted KL Rahul as saying.

KL Rahul hits back hard at his critics

Further commenting on the same, KL Rahul said that he has a clear mind now. The 30-year-old did not shy away from admitting the importance of the strike rate and said that he will prove his worth at the earliest for India.

“There can be criticism for many things. But the most important thing for a player is that what his captain, coach and teammates think of him in the dressing room. Only we know what role is expected of each player. Everyone is trying to give their best, but not everyone can succeed in each game. It is the kind of environment we have created where players are not scared to commit mistakes or fail... I am working towards how I can improve as an opening batter and give more impact to the team," KL Rahul concluded.

KL Rahul will open the innings with Rohit Sharma in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. It is up to the 30-year-old to prove a point with his bat for the team India going forward.
