The T20 cricket has revolutionized the way cricket is played all over the world. With the advent of T20 cricket not only has commercialized the sport and made it accessible for new nations but has made it more fast-paced and exciting. The shorter the game is the more dynamic it gets which prompts the batter to innovate and make the game more exciting.

T20s has not only made cricket more popular but also has changed the psychology of fans and cricketers. Earlier the metrics of performance for a batter used to be averages or milestones such as half-centuries and centuries but T20s have shifted the focus from them to strike rates and impact of a batter on a match.

In modern-day teams look for those batters who can play at higher strike rates and can change the course of the match on its head rather than those with higher batting averages.

1. Shoaib Malik

Shoaib Malik by far has the record for the most number of T20 runs without scoring a century. The veteran Pakistan batter has amassed 13,227 runs in 496 innings with the highest score of 95 not out. Out of a total of 13,227 runs, he has scored 2,435 runs in international cricket in the 111 innings he played. 

Although, Shoaib Malik has not retired from international cricket in the T20 format his career in international cricket is more or less over and he mainly plays in domestic leagues now where he gets most of his runs from. 

 

2. Eoin Morgan

The second batter in this list is the former white-ball captain of England who played a centre role in transforming the way white-ball cricket is being played by England. The middle-order batter adopted an aggressive style of play and motivated other English players to take up the same way.

Eoin Morgan though does not have an international ton in T20 cricket but still, he smashed 7,780 runs in 350 innings with 91 being his highest score. Out of the total, he scored 2,458 T20I runs in 106 innings at the international level and 1,405 runs in 105 IPL innings.

Robin Uthappa is known for his famous ramp shot to Stuart Broad in India’s famous One-day at Oval in 2007. In the list of batters with the most T20I runs without a hundred, he sits comfortably in the sixth position with 7,272 runs in 282 innings with 92 being his highest score. 

Robin Uthappa is an IPL veteran and even won the Orange Cap in 2014, the year when KKR went on to win the IPL trophy for the second time. Uthappa has scored nearly 5,000 runs in 205 IPL games before announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket in September 2022.

4. MS Dhoni

The player at the fourth position in the list is an example of why strike rate and impact matter the most in T20 cricket while batting. MS Dhoni sits at the fourth position with 7,271 runs in 334 innings with 81* being his best score. Out of the total runs he scored in this format, 1617 runs came in this format with only 2 half-centuries to his name.

It is mainly because he played at 6 or 7 in international cricket where he used to get fewer balls still he averages 37 in this format in international cricket. But in IPL he was a different beast, where he has 5,084 runs to his name in 250 matches. 

 

5. Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan is another T20 I great who features in this list at the 5th spot. He has made 7,208 runs in this format till now in 392 innings and is still going strong. In international cricket, he has scored 2,382 runs in 115 wickets.

Additionally, he has also taken 140 international T20I wickets which sets him apart from others in the list. Shakib Al Hasan has been a Bangladesh legend and is one of the top all-rounders in the world going around.
