The 4th match of the SA 20, 2023 took place between Joburg Super Kings and Paarl Royals on Friday at Boland Park, Paarl. After winning their first match, the Joburg Super Kings exhibited a dismal performance with the bat on Friday. A lackluster batting performance led to them getting bundled out for just 81 runs on the board.

All the batters except Verreynne (11) in the top-eight batters got out on single-digit scores. Fortuin perished both the openers inside the first three overs before picking his third scalp in the form of L Gregory (2) to leave Super Kings reeling at 16 for 4 inside 5 overs.

The likes of Vereynne (11), Romario Shepherd (7), and Ferreira (6) also failed to impress as the Super Kings were bundled out for a paltry score on the board. For the Paarl Royals, Fortuin (3 for 16) and Evan Jones (3 for 21) made sensational returns with the ball.

In reply, Paarl Royals chased down the score in just 10.3 overs. Jason Roy struggled to get going as he scored 12 runs in 13 balls before departing. However, his partner, Jos Buttler played an unbeaten knock of 29 runs in 21 balls to help the team chase down the score easily.

Besides, the likes of Wihan Lubbe (19 off 13) and Dane Vilas (13 off 13) also made handy contributions with the bat.

With that win, Paarl Royals take the number one spot on the table with 1 win in 2 matches. On the other hand, Joburg Super Kings went down to fifth position.

The Super Kings will be playing their next match against MI Cape Town on Saturday, while Paarl Royals will take on Durban Super Giants on Sunday.
