The Indian T20 League auction was a grand spectacle as it felt like it was a mega auction even though in reality it was only a mini auction. English players are the flavour of the season, as they went away becoming crorepatis after the auction. Sam Curran became the most expensive buy in the Indian T20 League auction after he went for INR 18.50 crore to the Punjab Kings.
This is how Curran reacted the richest buy in the 2022-23 auction replied to the Punjab franchise's tweet by writing, "Back to where it all started! Looking forward to it."
The second most expensive purchase went for 17.50 crores INR was Cameron Green. He was humbled that he got an opportunity to be in the Indian T20 League and was thrilled to be joining Mumbai. There was a scarcity of all-rounders, and many teams were bidding so the prices for Green or someone like Ben Stokes were always going to skyrocket.
Harry Brook's folks were crying when he got picked for Hyderabad
Ben Stokes was thrilled to go to the Chennai franchise for 16.25 crore INR. Ben Stokes put out a picture on Twitter with a yellow background to signify his association with Chennai.
It was a very emotional evening for Harry Brook as the Hyderabad team went all out and splurged 13.25 crore INR to get the England middle-order batter. His mother and grandmother could not comprehend what happened and they burst into tears.
Nicholas Pooran was also among the big buys who was brought by Lucknow. He went for 16 crore INR. The West Indies keeper batter has had a field day as it has been a topsy-turvy year for him in West Indies colours, where he had stepped down from captaincy after West Indies' 20-20 World Cup exit. He was thankful for the opportunity and said he was excited to see the fans of Lucknow.
Mayank Agarwal was the most expensive Indian buy as he was snapped up by Hyderabad for 8.25 crore INR. He took to Twitter and said that he was delighted to be joining the Sunrisers.
