In a report in The Times Of India, it has been revealed that the Leicester ground is all set to be named after the 1983 World Cup winner. The report further added that the wall of the Leicester ground has a portrait of Sunil Gavaskar in it. "I am delighted and honoured that a ground in Leicester is being named after me. Leicester is a city with possibly the strongest supporters of the game, especially Indian cricket, and therefore it is a huge honour indeed," Gavaskar said to TOI.

Gavaskar has played some of the most famous knocks for the Indian cricket team and he is still respected beyond borders. The former batter is known for his courage and is now widely considered a role model for budding young talents. It has also been revealed that the former Indian batter will unveil his name plaque on the Leicester ground.
