India vs Pakistan will take place on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. But rain can play a spoilsport in the heavyweight game. The southern part of Sri Lanka is expected to receive heavy rain over the next few days, a fact which was communicated to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and as a result, Dambulla was offered as an alternative venue in place of Kandy.

A storm named Balagolla is set to bring heavy rain on Saturday and fans are likely to witness another upset. According to reports, there are 56% to 78% chances of rain during the game time with strong cloud cover throughout the day. Another weather report predicts 68% precipitation an hour before the game, so, both teams are likely to play on the wet outfield.

Rain prediction in the Ind vs Pak game

According to the report the rain is expected to come at 2:30 which is half an hour before the start of the match and may delay the toss and eventually the match. Rain also stopped the ongoing Sri Lanka's opening game against Bangladesh at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on August 31. There were few showers during the first half of the match which stopped the play for a few minutes.

The Department of Meteorology said in its bulletin for Wednesday to Sri Lanka news, "Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and Galle and Matara districts." "Fairly heavy showers above 75mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts."

Pakistan has already won their first match over Nepal in Group 1 handing them a 238-run defeat on Wednesday. India and Pakistan have faced each other in 132 ODIs with India winning 55 matches and Pakistan winning 73 of those encounters.

Despite the rain threat, numerous fans are set to turn up in numbers to witness the much-anticipated game. India and Pakistan can clash with each other three times in the tournament if both teams make the final on September 17.
