French superstar Kylian Mbappé became Paris Saint-Germain’s all-time leading scorer with his 201st goal in the 4-2 Ligue 1 victory over Nantes on Saturday. Mbappé, who scored twice against Marseille last weekend to draw level with Uruguay's Edinson Cavani, is now in the lead after a stunning performance in Paris. Uruguayan striker scored 200 goals from 301 appearances, while Mbappe's 201st goal came after 247 matches.

The French forward netted in extra time on a thrilling night at the Parc des Princes to put PSG 11 points clear in the title race. The hosts took an early 2-0 lead thanks to Lionel Messi's 799th career goal and Nantes defender Jaouen Hadjam's freak own goal. However, Nantes fought back to equalise through Ludovic Blas and Ignatius Ganago in the 31st and 40th minutes. PSG had some poor defensive performances in the first half, conceding two goals. However, Marquinhos and his team regained control in the second half after taking the lead with Danilo nodding in Mbappe's superb cross.

The thrilling match was also a chance for Argentine icon Messi to score his 800th career goal, but it was Mbappe who created history as PSG prepare for their crucial trip to Munich. Pemeble pounced on a Nantes error, feeded Mbappe in the box, he spun swiftly away from his marker and the FIFA World Cup 2022 Golden Boot winner scored his 201st PSG goal. A sensational end to a brilliant game in Paris with Mbappe stealing the headlines.

Mbappe remains the second most expensive player of all time, having joined the Paris-based football club in 2017 for €180 million. The 24-year-old scored 21 goals in his debut campaign for PSG, but since then he has been on a completely different level in the 2018-19 season, scoring 33 in Ligue 1 alone.

Mbappe was the hero of last year's World Cup final and shone throughout the tournament. He arrived at PSG in the same transfer window as Brazil forward Neymar. The club signed Messi in 2021 and brought another big name to the French club. Since then the trio has been sensational with their dominant performances.
