Ahead of the ODI series against India, Cricket Australia announces their 16-man squad for the three-match series starting from March 17. Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh were included in the team, while spinner Aston Agar, who has been dropped from the Test squad, is also named into the squad.
Glenn Maxwell suffered a leg injury last year and has missed cricketing action for almost 3 months. On the other hand, Marsh is also returning from an ankle injury. Star opener David Warner, who suffered an injury in the elbow during the second Test against India, is also named in the squad, although Injured pacer Josh Hazelwood failed to recover from the injury and has been left out.
Discussing the selection of the team, the Chief Selector of the Australian Team, George Bailey said that Maxwell, Marsh, and Jhye Richardson would be a key part of the squad ahead of the upcoming 50-over World Cup. "With the World Cup just over seven months away, these matches in India are an important step in our preparation. Glenn, Mitchell, and Jhye are all important players in what we think the squad might look like come October", said Bailey.

Last Week, India also announced their squad for the upcoming Day series along with the squad for the last two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India Pacer Jasprit Bumrah once again failed to recover from his back injury and failed to make it into the squad. On the other hand, opener KL Rahul has been named into the squad despite his poor form in international cricket.
