Delhi Capitals (DC) players are set to wear their special rainbow-coloured jerseys for their final Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, May 20. The Delhi-based franchise has worn this jersey for one game in the last three seasons, claiming it is to celebrate India's unique diversity.
Revealing the special jersey, the franchise wrote on their official Twitter account: "Ending our #IPL2023 campaign on a note! Our boys will be donning these special threads in our last home match of the season at #QilaKotla!

Last season, the DC players wore the rainbow-themed kit in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), following which it was auctioned off to help the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Vijayanagar, Karnataka.
The David Warner-led team is currently sitting ninth in the IPL 2023 points table with 10 points and was the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs. They will, however, aim to win their final home match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which could also help them climb the points standings. Meanwhile, second-placed CSK need a win to stay alive in the competition.
Will DC spoil CSK's party like they did against PBKS?
Capitals are coming into the game after spoiling the party of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by defeating Shikhar Dhawan's side for 15 runs and ending their playoff desires. Interestingly, DC never lost a game while wearing the rainbow jersey. If they decide to keep their winning streak going, four-time champions CSK will have to end their campaign on a sour note.
The DC batters were on song in Dharamsala as all of them fired to take their team's total to a massive 213. Prithvi Shaw scored a half-century in his comeback match, while Rilee Rossouw stunned with 82 off 37 balls. Speaking after the match,ย former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha said that DC were able to express themselves freely after the pressure of playoff qualification were removed.
"Coach and mentors will be asking where these Delhi Capitals were. The way they batted, the way Prithvi Shaw did it, the way David Warner did, and later when Rilee Roussow did it. I think, from what I see, when the pressure was on, they were playing differently. Now that the pressure is off and they're not in the race in the tournament, we've gotten a chance to see a different kind of batting from them," Ojha said while speaking to Jio Cinemas.
Here's how fans reacted to DC's special jersey:ย
