Australia's off-spinner Nathan Lyon has risen to the occasion in the ongoing second Test against India in Delhi. Ahead of the game, the Aussies came entered the Arun Jaitley Stadium after losing to the home side in the first game. In the first game played in Nagpur, the Kangaroos were thrashed by innings and 132 runs inside three days.

In the ongoing game, the Pat Cummins-led side won the toss and elected to bat first. Thanks to the fifties from Usman Khawaja (81) and Peter Handscomb (72), the team reached 263. It is considered a decent total given the ball is keeping low and turning from Day One of the game. In reply, India scored 21/0 at the end of Day One.

However, in the ongoing second day, Lyon wreaked havoc as he took the first four wickets of the Indian innings. In the first session of the ongoing day, the right-arm off-spinner took the wickets of India skipper Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer. After the first session, the World Number Two Test side, India scored 88/4.

In the second session of the game, Lyon took the wicket of Srikar Bharat. The latter tried to play a sweep shot, only to end up playing the ball early. As a result, the ball hit him in the gloves and lobbed up to Steve Smith at first slip. With this, he completed his five-wicket haul.

Nathan Lyon becomes the third bowler to pick 100 wickets in BGT

Meanwhile, the veteran spinner has become only the third player to pick 100 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Before him, only Ravichandran Ashwin and Anl Kumble are the only players to do so. Out of the duo, only the former is still playing the game. On the other hand, Kumble retired from the game way back in 2008.

Talking about his performance in the BGT, he has 111 wickets. On the other hand, Ashwin has exactly 100 wickets and is certain to add to his tally in the game and further in the series.
