Walking in to bat at number three, Virat Kohli took the third ODI against Sri Lanka by storm as he scored his 74th International century. The star batter looked in great shape, having already scored a century in the first match of the series. He walked into bat when India lost its skipper for a team score of 95 in the 16th over of the first innings.

The 35-year-old formed a strong partnership with Shubman Gill, who also scored a century. The two formed a crucial partnership of 131 runs for the second wicket as Kohli completed his half-century. After Gill's dismissal (116 runs in 97 balls), Kohli continued to pile on the runs as he was joined by Shreyas Iyer.

The former Indian captain pushed down the accelerator as Iyer gave him the proper support. He eventually completed his century with a nudge down the leg side for a single in the 43rd over of the innings. The seasoned cricketer had a very muted reaction while celebrating his 46th ODI and 74th international century.

The veteran cricketer did not stop there as he went to cross the 150-run mark. While a couple of wickets fell on one end, he kept the boundaries in check and helped India get into a great position. He finished the inning on a high note, hitting a six and a boundary on the final two balls. India eventually scored 390 runs in the first innings losing five wickets.

Virat Kohli was the highest scorer of the match, with 166 runs in 110 balls. His innings included 13 boundaries and as many as eight sixes in the innings. Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma, along with Gill, provided a great start. He scored 42 runs in 49 balls to get the Men in Blue to a great position.

In the meantime, Twitter was abuzz with praises for the former Indian skipper. "74th International hundred for Virat Kohli, he has been ruling world cricket for a decade and story continues in 2023," a user wrote.
