‘Kohli aake century’s Thok dega’ - Fans react as Shaheen Afridi picks back-to-back wickets on his debut at The Hundred

Pakistan’s speedster Shaheen Afridi shines on his debut game in The Hundred 2023 with two wickets in the first two balls, as his side Welsh Fire has beaten Manchester Originals by nine runs. Afridi bowl an incredible spell in a thrilling encounter as rain affected the game at Sophia Gardens. The left-arm pacer ended with a figure of 2/24 in 10 balls he bowled, whereas fans on Twitter reminded him of Virat Kohli after seeing his brilliant yorkers. 

Interestingly, the Pakistani pacer made an immediate impact with his first over as the Manchester side was chasing 95 runs from 40 balls. Afridi's first ball swinging in trapped Phil Salt for LBW out, and the next was identical to the first one to dismiss Laurie Evans. Clearly, he is one of the most feared bowlers in the cricketing world with the new ball in hand, Afridi recently made the comeback for the Men in Green in the Sri Lanka tour, after getting injured in the Finals of the T20 World Cup 2022. 

Shaheen Afridi picked up his 100th Test wicket in his 26th game

The Pakistani pacer in the Test series against Sri Lanka in July 2023 completed 100 Test career wickets on Day one of the first Test. He achieved this feat in his 26th Test match, as the 23-year-old dismissed Lanka opener Nishan Madushka. Now, he is the 19th cricketer from the Pakistani side to pick up his 100th Test wicket. Afridi has now taken 70 and 64 wickets in ODIs and T20Is, respectively.

It will be interesting to see how Pakistani star pacer Afridi will perform against India, as in 2021, his 3/31 helped his side win by 10 wickets against India. Now the Indian side, with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Kohli, will charge up to face Shaheen in upcoming clashes in the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.
