The star India batter KL Rahul tested positive for Covid last Thursday. The batter was undergoing rehabilitation in Bangalore after undergoing successful surgery in Germany. This has kept him out of the international arena for a while.

The Indian opener was all set to make his comeback in the T20I series against West Indies. But to add to his misery, he tested positive for Covid last Thursday. Speculations are rife that the batter might miss the entire T20I series against the Caribbean.

After the T20I series against West Indies, Team India will tour Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series, starting on August 18th. The matches will be played on August 18, 20 and 22 in Harare. If reports are to be believed, KL Rahul is likely to lead the ODI team. But it was put aside after the batter tested positive. But it has now come to the limelight from a report by ESPNCricinfo, that the batter might become fit for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

This might mean that the batter might also lead the team in the series. Earlier, a video surfaced on social media where the batter was seen facing Indian women’s pace spearhead, Jhulan Goswami. The news of him being fit for the Zimbabwe series might come as a relief for his fans. Team India have been missing his services for a long time now.

The classy batter has the potential to bat at any given position. His main focus would be too dish out substantial performances with the bat and cement his place in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and 2023 World Cup. The batter has piled up 1634 runs in the ODI format so far. He has five hundreds to his name in the format. The batter has been excellent in the T20I format as well.

The batter has 1831 runs and two hundreds to his name in the T20I format. With excellent statistics under his belt, the batter is definitely a contender to make it to the 20-20 World Cup squad. He would be hoping to make a strong comeback in the ODI series against Zimbabwe.
