Pakistan’s skipper and Colombo Strikers opener Babar Azam got out cheaply against B-Love Kandy in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023. Wanindu Hasaranga-led side won the toss and opted to bat first, The striker's opening batter, Babar, was dismissed in the third over for 9 (8) by Angelo Mathews. In the match, the Strikers won the 18th match of the season by nine runs against a Kandy-based side.  

Whereas in the last game in Colombo, the Pakistani skipper was dismissed by his Pakistan teammate Hasan Ali during a match between Strikers and Dambulla Aura. Interestingly, after dismissing Babar, Hasan Ali didn’t celebrate in his usual way and instead showed a smile gesture as the Pakistani batter walked past him.

Although, after the game, Ali tweeted why he didn’t do his signature celebration after taking Babar Azam’s wicket. In that game, the Strikers’ side was unable to chase down the target of 167 runs as they were dismissed for the 116 mark, and eventually, Aura won the game by 50 runs. 

“He is our king and my skipper, so there is always a respect element and that’s why I didn’t celebrate. I think it’s a massive celebration for me to get him out of the circle. We know he can change the game anytime,” Hasan said in the video. 

Although it is pertinent to mention that, Babar is in good form in the LPL 2023, as he is the top scorer in the league till now with 255 runs in seven games, including a century. Although, after two consecutive failures and not getting support from any other batter in the side, the Colombo side is struggling this season. In the LPL 2023 points table, Strikers after the win is still at the bottom of the table with three wins in seven matches it played this season, while the Kandy side is in the second spot after four wins in seven games it played this season.
