Ishan Kishan, the left-handed batter, is an aspiring star and a fan would have no doubt about it whatsoever. However, for some unknown reasons, the southpaw has not been at his very best when it comes to the shortest format of the game. Known for his stupendous strike rate, it has been the only area of concern in T20Is and it did continue in the series against New Zealand as well.

While Kishan contributed 4 runs in the initial T20I, the southpaw managed to score only 20 runs in the remaining two games, making it a series to forget for the batter. It was not so long ago when he scored a roaring double century against Bangladesh in December 2022 but since then, the graph has been downward for the star.

Prithvi Shaw, on the other hand, earned his national call-up after a wait of 18 months and despite Kishan’s continued poor run, the latter was given yet another chance in the final game as well. While skipper Hardik Pandya had no answer for that whatsoever, Shaw looked dull in the dressing room as one could understand.

Ishan Kishan in Tests vs Australia - a cause of concern?

The southpaw will next feature in the Tests vs Australia, although in all likelihood, he might not get more than one game to his name and only after India win the series. With KS Bharat being pushed to prepare for the series, Kishan is roped in only as the backup wicketkeeper and to make up for Rishabh Pant’s absence.

The mighty Indian team are toiling hard ahead of the much-awaited series and so are the Australians who are leaving no stone unturned to be on their feet to face the talented and unreadable Indian spinners. It would be a huge ask for Kishan, if in case, he is asked to make his debut sooner than expected and known for his aggressive intent, it would be challenging for the southpaw to keep his calm in crunch situations.
