Virat Kohli stole the hearts of cricket fans with a lovely gesture to his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma ahead of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. While about to play an IPL game at his home for the first time since 2019, the former India and RCB captain met his coach and touched his feet.

Kohli has always credited Rajkumar for his success, and he was one of the few people who kept in touch with him during his rough time for nearly three years. The right-handed batter has mentioned on more than one occasion that his childhood coach and Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni were two among the very few people who have contacted him and checked on him.

Even after earning greater success in his cricketing career, Kohli set a good example for the next generation by showing respect to those who got him to that level.ย The video has taken the internet by storm and fans are really loving his gesture after his heated verbal spat with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor Gautam Gambhir a few days back.

Kohli completes 7000 runs in IPL

Virat Kohli became the first player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to complete 7000 runs (225 innings). He reached the milestone during the ongoing RCB vs DC match with a cut shot against DC spinner Axar Patel that raced to the fence. Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan is second in the list with 6536 runs and DC skipper David Warner (6189) is third.

Asked about the achievement after the first innings, the 34-year-old said: "It (7000 runs in IPL) is just another milestone on the journey. It's a nice number, I just saw it on the screen. If it helps the team, I am happy to contribute. It's a special moment for me, my family is here, my coach is here, Anushka is here. My whole journey started here. I was watched by the selectors at this ground and selected. I feel nothing but gratitude, god has blessed me with such amazing things, I can only bow down."

Meanwhile, RCB won the toss and elected to bat first. Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis put on 82 runs for the first wicket before the latter was out for 45 in the 11th over. Kohli hit his 50th IPL half-century, while Mahipal Lomror smashedย his first fifty in the cash-rich league, to help RCB reach a respectable total of 181.
