Fans, recently, witnessed the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League where Mumbai defeated Delhi by 7 wickets in the final to clinch the title. With the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League set to kick off on March 31, they will continue their excitement in the coming two months. Ahead of the new season, Australian star Steven Smith has left fans stunned with a message saying that he will be part of the commentary panel in ITL 2023.

The ace batter, who led Australia to win the recently concluded ODI series against India, said on his Twitter account on Monday, “Namaste India. I have got some exciting news for you. I am joining ITL 2023.

“Yes, that’s right. I am joining an exceptional and passionate team in India,” Smith added.

Even though he didn't mention the role in his video message, it is reported that Steve Smith is set to make his debut as a commentator in the Indian T20 League this year. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how Smith will bring his expertise and insights to the commentary box. From starting his career as a bowler and, later, becoming one of the stalwarts of the Aussie batting order, he is now going to be an observer of the game.

Fab 4 to be part of an ITL season for the first time

The Fab 4 - Virat Kohli, Steven Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson - will be part of an ITL season for the first time in history. But the only difference is that Smith will be doing commentary while everyone else is part of their respective franchises.

Virat Kohli, the former captain of Bangalore franchise, has joined his team and is gearing up for their first clash against Mumbai at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2. The 34-year-old, who went through the worst patch of his career, has regained his form and is aiming to help his franchise lift their maiden ITL title.

Kane Williamson, who was the captain of the Hyderabad franchise last season, will take the field with Gujarat this time. Meanwhile, former England Test skipper Joe Root is tasked with leading Rajasthan's middle order. This will be Root's first time being a part of the marquee T20 league and will look to use his experience to help the team win a second title.
