Former India pacer RP Singh India should recall Ishan Kishan for the fourth T20I against West Indies and bat him at No. 5. He might be the first-choice wicket-keeper in the forthcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023 if KL Rahul is unavailable for the tournament.

With fewer than two months till the World Cup, Rohit Sharma's squad needs to solve the middle-order issues. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are yet to fully recover from their injuries. Due to their individual ailments, both hitters have been out of the game since last summer.

Ishan should play at No. 5 if you see him at No. 5 for the (ODI) World Cup: RP Singh

RP Singh claimed at a JioCinema discussion that Ishan Kishan is unlikely to bat at the top of the order in the 2023 World Cup at home. The pacer said, "It doesn't work out with just one chance. According to me, Ishan should play at No. 5 if you see him at No. 5 for the (ODI) World Cup. If KL Rahul is unavailable in the future, Ishan Kishan is his backup option. So he has to learn to play at No. 5."

"So he has to learn to play at No. 5. When Rohit Sharma comes, Rohit and Shubman Gill will open, although Gill’s performance has slightly saddened our hearts. But still if both of them open, where can Ishan Kishan get a place, it is down the order."

Kishan was dropped from the playing XI after failing to make an impression as an opener in the first two games. The southpaw gave up 33 runs in two innings, with an average of 16.5 and a strike rate of 103.12. The veteran pacer backed Yashasvi Jaiswal to open the innings, emphasizing that the batter needs to be given a longer opportunity to express himself freely.

With a 1-2 series disadvantage, the Men in Blue will play the Windies in the fourth T20I on Saturday, August 12 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida.
