Former Indian captain MS Dhoni often makes hilarious comments and not many will have forgotten a memorable moment in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when the wicketkeeper-batter bantered with former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen. The two shared a casual exchange during the 2017 IPL when Dhoni was playing for the Rising Pune Supergiant and former Delhi Capitals captain Pietersen was doing commentary after his retirement.

When the current Chennai Super Kings skipper was doing wicket keeping, Pietersen, who was having a chat with RPS batter Manoj Tiwary over the microphone, told him that he was a better golfer than Dhoni. He then asked Tiwary to tell Dhoni of his remarks, to which Dhoni responded humorously through the mic, “You are still my first Test wicket".

Pietersen, who had said back then that there was a referral and the umpire reversed the decision, seems not to have really forgotten the banter nearly six years later. On Tuesday (May 16), the right-handed batter tweeted a video of the entire sequence of events that happened during India’s 2011 tour. On-field umpire Billy Bowden adjudged Pietersen to be caught behind off Dhoni's delivery, but the batter immediately reviewed it and the decision was overturned when it appeared that there was no edge.

The 42-year-old scored a double century in England's victory, while Dhoni's career ended without a Test wicket. Pietersen shared the first video on his Twitter account with the caption, “The evidence is clear! I was not Dhoni’s first wicket. Nice ball though MS!”

One of England's finest batters, Pietersen posted another video on Wednesday, this time of himself taking Dhoni's wicket in the 2007 Test match at the Oval.

The banter between the two is purely lighthearted, with Pietersen expressing his admiration for the 2011 World Cup winning captain several times. He also recently urged the 41-year-old not to retire after the ongoing IPL.

“I think everybody wants to keep going. With the Impact Player becoming more relevant now, I think he can. This is one tournament he needs to get up for. Why not? He is a fit guy, he is an athlete,” the Englishman told Star Sports.
