Two incredible individual performances by Marizanne Kapp with the ball and Shafali Verma with the bat helped the Delhi franchise get back on the winning track in the inaugural Women's T20 League. Delhi were having an unbeaten run in the tournament but tasted their first defeat against Mumbai in their previous match. However, Meg Lanning's team roared back in style with a 10-wicket win over Gujarat on Saturday.

Delhi won the toss, elected to bat first and restricted the opposition to 105-9 in 20 overs. Kapp struck in the very first over of the innings, dismissing Sabbhineni Meghana for a duck on her second ball. The South African continued attack in her second over and sent back Laura Wolvaardt (1) and Ashleigh Gardner (0) on back-to-back deliveries. There were no stopping for the all-rounder at the DY Patil Stadium as she picked another in her third over, this time the wicket of Harleen Deol (20 off 14).

2nd five-wicket haul for Delhi bowlers

The onslaught didn't stop there, the pacer's magical spell ended after registering a five wicket haul after dismissing Sushma Verma (2) in her fourth over. Kapp completed her quota of four overs with figures of 5 for 15 - the best in WTL 2023. This is the third five-wicket haul in the WTL and the second for Delhi bowlers. Earlier, Tara Norris also took five wickets in Delhi's 60-run win against Bangalore.

Speaking after her team's win, the South African cricketer said: "Just wanted to perform so badly. It's not been going so well. I felt I missed my line and length a lot in the previous three games. If you want to perform you need to put in the hard work. Good to contribute tonight. That's what makes it tough being an allrounder. If you bowl well and don't bat well, you don't feel good. Thankfully I wasn't needed to bat tonight. We've got such a nice group of players. Such an amazing experience being here."

Meanwhile, the Delhi opening batters crushed the Gujarat bowlers and chased down the mere target of 106 runs in 7.1 overs. Shafali's quickfire half-century (76 off 28) and skipper Lanning's 21 off 15 balls gave Delhi a commanding victory.
